For our end-of-year update, we asked some of the winners of our first end-of-year awards to share their highlights from 2024. We’ve achieved a lot over the last year, and we’re all looking forward to what’s coming in 2025!

Yasmin Lobb – Outstanding Achievement Winner

2024 has been a really exciting year in Plymouth, starting with the move to our new office after being based in the cabin on-site for three years. I’ve continued working closely with Volkerstevin, completing nine dock and moving on to three basin projects, while also helping the team in Portsmouth recruit for their ongoing roles.

Mental Health support continues to be an important part of what I’m able to do for our workforce, and earlier this year I took part in and completed the Mental Health First Aid course with St John Ambulance. This has really helped with the weekly check-ins I do with our candidates.

Working in and supporting my local community in Plymouth has always been important to me, and this year I continued to support a number of local charities. This included the local food bank and donating a TV to the Primrose Foundation for their ‘Breast Fest’ event.

In addition to charity work, helping to get people in the local community back into work has been a priority of mine since starting with PSI Global nearly four years ago. During this time, I’ve been working closely with Seetec Pluss, a provider of work and wellbeing services across the UK. Through Seetec, I’ve attended a number of job fairs throughout the year and have continued the regular hygiene and sanitary product donations to their office in Plymouth. This has all led to a big highlight of the year, receiving the Employer of the Year award from Seetec! I received this back in March for my “passion and commitment for supporting people back into work”, and it was such an honour to be selected from so many well-known companies.

Katie Coggins – People’s Choice Winner

This year has been an incredibly busy and rewarding one. From early 2024, I took on one of the biggest projects, Scaffolding Sea Rose, which brought its fair share of challenges. Staying organised and focused was crucial to overcoming these hurdles and ensuring the project’s success.

Alongside this, I’ve been actively involved in multiple projects across the North West, North East, and Scotland, visiting various sites to check in with the teams, provide support, and discuss future labour requirements. This has helped me gain confidence with the client side of things.

I’ve also had the opportunity to build strong relationships both internally with colleagues and externally with clients, which has been a key part of achieving successful project outcomes.

More recently, I’ve had the privilege of being part of the Social Values Team, with a particular focus on mental health initiatives. Contributing to this area has been especially rewarding, as it highlights the importance of supporting the well-being of those around us.

Receiving the People’s Choice Award is an incredible honour and a reflection of the hard work, dedication, and collaboration that defined this year. I’m truly grateful for the recognition and look forward to continuing to contribute to future projects and initiatives with the same level of commitment and enthusiasm.

Megan Parr – Support Staff of the Year Winner

One of the big highlights this year was completing our annual RISQS Audit, where I provided the necessary evidence required to get us a PASS upon completion. I also accomplished an out-of-turn RISQS Audit, which allowed us to complete SSOWP work. As a result, we were able to obtain our Network Rail Principal Contractor License, allowing us to perform contract works of our own after serving as a framework supplier for the past few years.

Throughout the year I have been training under Operations Manager Sarah Ainsworth, making sure the office runs smoothly day-to-day, completing client PQQ forms, and supporting anyone in the company regardless of which team or office they are in. I’ve worked at PSI Global for more than three years now, and it feels wonderful to receive the first award for Support Team Member of the Year and have my hard work recognised!

James Rose – Recruiter of the Year Winner

One major highlight was our work on the A30 in Cornwall coming to an end in the summer. This is a project that has been a major focus within our team over the last two and a half years, so to see it wrap up was a big moment.

With the end of one project came the start of several more. This included new highways work on the M1 in Northamptonshire, establishing a presence on Severn Trent Water sites throughout the Midlands, and work on the HS2 Viaducts in Solihull, which started in January and has run throughout the year.

Finally, I want to thank my colleague Liam for all of his support this year. He really stepped up while I was off earlier this year due to family circumstances and ensured that everyone continued to run smoothly. His award for Most Improved was very much deserved!
