The PSI Global Mental Health Scheme offers various forms of Mental Health support for our workforce. Many of our team members have been trained through the i-act for Positive Mental Health and Wellbeing programme or the St John Ambulance Mental Health First Aid training course. This means they are trained and qualified to either provide mental health support and signposting, or mental health first aid.
Our team has launched several initiatives to ensure our workforce is aware of the services offered. Regular communication is sent out with mental health tips and support information. Account Managers make regular site visits to catch up with our workers and provide relevant information. We have also signed the Rail Mental Health Charter and the charter with Building Mental Health to demonstrate our commitment to the mental health and wellbeing of our workforce.
We recognise that while our team have had training, there will be some within our workforce that need further support. This is why we have partnered with outside mental health organisations to provide professional support to those who need it. Maximus is one of the organisations that provides this support. A full government-funded service, they provide up to nine months of mental health support to anyone suffering from any form of mental health issues, diagnosed or undiagnosed. This is open to anyone who is employed by PSI Global, as well as their family or friends. Maximus also offer the option of providing an expert to speak to our workforce on-site, giving a talk discussing the various programmes offered.
Respecting the privacy of information relating to individuals who have received mental health first aid, support, or may be experiencing a mental health problem or crisis at work is of high importance. All mental health first aiders, ambassadors, and human resource representatives are obligated to treat all matters sensitively and privately. Anyone on our sites in need of mental health support is also made aware that they can send a confidential email to talk@psi-gsr.com, where one of our Mental Health Ambassadors will either support them or direct them to further professional support.
